Written on April 20, 2012

In my previous post I spoke about the enhancements Wolters Kluwer Italy made to BigSuite, a fiscal premium product. Enhancing Functionality In Products

Written on March 23, 2012

In my last post I stated that user satisfaction is key in retaining customers and in achieving competitive advantages. Here I will discuss a different aspect of the same topic. We aim to offer the best products to generate user satisfaction. When launching a new product however, sometimes you need to focus on the time-to-market variable and speed up the release, which can lead to having to compromise on offering some functionality and/or the complete content you estimated at design time. Users’ Expectations about Digital Content

Written on February 17, 2012

Which kind of functionality and what level of performance can users expect from an ebook, a databank, or an app? This is not an easy question, since there is no industry standardization in place yet. Written on October 07, 2011

In a world in which intelligent technologies are integrated in everyday objects and environments, users are at risk of being overburdened with information and interaction possibilities. And specifically in our products, we need to accurately predict and design how and when there is a real need to capture the user’s attention.

The problem

Information can be everywhere nowadays. Interaction through or with this variety of technologies typically happens through screens, keyboards, mice, touch-screens, and even voice. However, as these types of interfaces generally require the user’s focused attention, in a world of ubiquitous computing, we are at risk of being overburdened with information. Read further >

Written on July 22, 2011

The importance of innovation for organizational success is a fact. Organizations no longer sustain a competitive advantage by maintaining current processes, products, or services. Looking at companies like Google, you can easily figure out that the working environment is one of the main factors to allow creativity to take off. But it is not the only one. Read further >
