Ali Hashemi joined Wolters Kluwer in the spring of 2011, bringing a background in artificial intelligence, semantic technologies and cognitive engineering. He has been active both in academia and industry, working on developing intelligent, conversational software agents as well as designing large ontology repositories.

He is currently both a co-organizer and co-lead editor of this year's Ontology Summit 2012 - Ontology for Big Systems. Ali is also deeply interested in new media arts and artificial intelligence research and is currently experimenting with using Microsoft Kinect as a musical instrument, as a tool to record and harmonize meetings and in testing theories of agency in action.

Ali holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science, and a Masters of Applied Science from the Univeristy of Toronto in Knowledge Engineering.
